Core Function and Capacity

The institution provides free shelter, education, vocational training, and rehabilitation facilities for children in need of care and protection, and children in conflict with the law.

Mandated Capacity: The institution has a sanctioned capacity for 50 children (15 for Observation Home and 35 for Children's Home).

Age Group: It serves children between the ages of 6 and 18 years.

Admission Source: Children are admitted through orders from the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), as per the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

Basic Needs: Free residence, food, clothing, bedding, and medical facilities.

Education: Free schooling and access to various types of training.

Training & Development: Vocational training, computer training (including successful MS-CIT certification for many students), and music training.

Rehabilitation: Efforts are continuously made for the rehabilitation of orphaned and destitute children.

Counseling: Counseling services are provided to the children.

Impact: Since its inception in 1957, approximately 12,451 to 20,000 inmates have benefited from the institution, many of whom have become successful as judges, police officers, army officers, teachers, and entrepreneurs.


🏛️ Governance and Funding

President: The District Collector of Aurangabad (now Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) is the ex-officio President of the institution.

Leadership: The institution is run by a managing committee of about 20 reputed members, with Shri Mansingh B. Pawar currently serving as the Executive Chairman and Smt. Sushila S. Jagtap as the Honorary Secretary.

Funding: The institution receives maintenance and salary grants from the Women and Child Development Department of the Government of Maharashtra.

Development Fund: Funds for developmental work and specialized programs are raised through community participation from various companies (e.g., Sterlite Technologies, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Hindustan Petroleum), philanthropists, and social workers.


💡 Future Plans (Vision)

The organization is actively pursuing several future development plans, including:

Starting an Observation Home/Children's Home for girls.

Constructing a new, modern building for the Observation Home/Children's Home, Child Welfare Committee, and Juvenile Justice Board facilities.

Establishing a Vocational Training Center (including courses like mobile repair and electrician training).

Starting a dedicated library and hostel for students.

Starting an Old Age Home (Vruddhashram) and a Day-Care Center.
